Bilgi :Although Live Free or Die Hard is known internationally as Die Hard 4.0, the truth is that Die Hard was never really a bona fide series. As with Raiders of the Lost Ark, there was just one really great movie, followed by a host of imitators, a couple of which happened to involve some of the same characters and filmmakers. Temple of Doom and Last Crusade were just Indiana Jones flicks; there's only one Raiders.

In a similar way, call them whatever you want, the further adventures of John McClane pale beside the original no less than the Try-Hard and Fly-Hard adventures of Steven Seagal, Wesley Snipes and Keanu Reeves. (Well, okay, Speed actually holds up pretty well.)

What made the original Die Hard such a unique film wasn't one thing, but a perfect storm of factors. The insidious, disciplined invading force; the claustrophobic confinement; the emotional as well as physical punishment suffered by the panicky, hesitating, self-reproaching hero, so different from the impassive he-man heroes of earlier eras. The wounded emotional distance and dangerous secret solidarity between John and his estranged wife. The clever conceits of John's increasingly desperate gambits for survival. And, of course, the electrifying anonymous confrontation via walkie-talkie between John and his opponent Hans, a battle of wits and nerves.

Along with a host of other recent and coming "sequels" to 1980s–era franchises coming anywhere from a dozen to nearly twenty years after their most recent predecessors—including Terminator 3, Rocky Balboa, an Indiana Jones sequel shooting now, and of course the Star Wars

In the case of Live Free or Die Hard, directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld), that's probably a good thing. Like Captain Kirk putting on his spectacles in The Wrath of Khan, John McClane (Bruce Willis) can no longer pretend to be the same man he was twenty years ago, and that distance offers at least the possibility of new reasons for revisiting this character. The world, too, has changed, of course, not so much in terms of 9/11—the Die Hard films were never really interested in real terrorism, only high-tech opportunism—as in the exploding significance of cyberspace as a crucial front in all possible wars on terror.

prequels—Live Free or Die Hard feels not so much like the continuation of a franchise as a revisiting of a historic institution, more like the Star Trek movies in relation to the original TV series than a continuation of the series.

McClane and Matt Farrell try to make sense of the chaos

Bonnie Bedelia's Holly Gennero McClane, last seen in Die Hard 2, is still out of the picture; sadly, though not alas implausibly, she and John are divorced. Yet Live Free at least partly recoups her absence by reintroducing a character who had about a minute of screen time in the original film: Lucy McClane, John and Holly's daughter, then about six or seven. Now in her twenties, she's played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Final Destination 3) with a spunk and toughness befitting both her parents. Predictably, Lucy's relationship with her father is as rocky as her mother's was, and Lucy also goes back and forth on whether she wants to be a McClane or a Gennero.

Wisely, Live Free doesn't try to replicate the paranoia or intimidation of the first film. Twenty years later, battered by life, John can no longer be that panicky, brash cop, and Live Free shrewdly uses his history to advantage, establishing him as a dogged, world-weary old warrior who may still get mad and even desperate, but can't really get all that frightened any more.

McClane knows that his opponent (Timothy Olyphant, The Girl Next Door)—an arrogant, ruthless computer security expert twenty years his junior—is smarter than he is, and has the advantage of meticulous planning and surprise. But McClane has experience on his side; he's played underdog before, and when he rattles his opponent's chain, it isn't blustering bravado, but seasoned tactical provocation. This time, it's his unflappable calm that intimidates his brash young opponent, not the other way around.

Somebody needs to be frightened, though, or the sense of emotional urgency is lost. So Live Free gives McClane a sidekick: Matt Farrell (Justin Long, Accepted), a young hacker who, in addition to providing technical support to the digitally challenged McClane, freaks out a lot—and with good reason. He's not as engaging or sympathetic as Sandra Bullock in Speed, say, but he gets the job done.

McClane needs him, too. Professedly based on a Wired article by John Carlin called "A Farewell to Arms," which speculates on the possibility of a coming "I-war" or information war, Live Free drops McClane into a Crichton-esque techno-thriller about virtual terrorism, a hacker takedown of the infrastructure. In this cyber-battle the two-fisted McClane is something of an anachronism—an "analog cop in a digital universe," the villain sneers.

That doesn't mean there isn't still lots of old-fashioned analog shooting, explosions, vehicular chases, punishing fight scenes, and general havoc. This may be a cyberthriller, but there's still enough meatspace mayhem to leave McClane battered to a bloody pulp, as usual.

Even the mayhem has been upgraded, as McClane—like James Bond in the new Casino Royale—faces opponents who make flamboyant use of parkour, an athletic, free-form mode of locomotion that involves daring and efficient traversing of obstacles in emergency fashion. There's also a kick-boxing Asian beauty (Maggie Q, Mission: Impossible III), as well as a bruising battery of large-scale set pieces: helicopter versus patrol car, SUV versus Maggie Q in an elevator shaft, even Harrier jet versus semi rig on an elevated highway.

Some of the violence is good old white-knuckle escapist action, thrillingly well-staged and wincingly visceral. Other times, as with McClane's previous adventures, it seems unnecessarily sadistic. And then there are sequences that go over the top into self-parody cartoon mode, like the most preposterous James Bond stuntwork, or like Arnold Schwarzeneggar's Last Action HeroTrue Lies. The Harrier/semi duel, in particular, simultaneously recalls Schwarzeneggar's Terminator 3 and True Lies.

Ironically, Live Free is much more effective and exciting when it keeps the action on a smaller and more believable scale. I've said before that watching Die Hard is kind of like reading those Worst Case Scenario Survival Handbooks; even if you never actually plan to leap from a burning building, say, or take on a high-rise full of gun-wielding terrorists, there's something empowering about feeling that the thing could conceivably be done, if not necessarily by you, but at least by someone with sufficient nerve, skill and luck.

Some suspension of disbelief is warranted, certainly, but push it too far, and we might as well be watching the Terminator, a semi-indestructible machine slogging through a gauntlet of punishment that would clearly rip an ordinary mortal to pieces. That can be cool too, but it's a different kind of cool. With McClane, we need to feel, at least theoretically, that he could conceivably be killed, that he's at least capable of being killed. Live Free ventures too flagrantly across that line a few times.

Despite its drawbacks, Live Freeis possibly the freshest and most enjoyable of McClane's outings since the original. The cyber-terrorism angle, though filtered through a Hollywood lens, is sufficiently grounded in reality to be genuinely unnerving, and there's real adrenaline-pumping excitement, not just expert production values, in much of the action.

For almost twenty years, the original Die Hard has been the standard by which modern action films are measured. Live Free or Die Hard doesn't rival its predecessor, but it honors the tradition.

Bilgi :28 Weeks Later picks up seven months after the initial outbreak so gruesomely depicted in Boyle's film. The U.S. military has stepped in to help re-populate a small section of London, and to say that security is tight would be kind of an understatement. (Although security is surprisingly lax during one key scene; it's one of the flick's small-but-nagging plot holes.) Robert Carlyle plays a high-end maintenance man who's enjoying a long overdue reunion with his pre-teen son and daughter -- and is desperately trying to forget how he left his poor wife screaming in terror as throngs of "the infected" overtook her. (He wussed out is what he did, basically.) But a few plot developments arrive early on, none of which I'll spoil here, and let's just say the "rage virus" is back in full force. And it's just as contagious, gruesome and sticky as ever. The last half of 28 Weeks Later is little more than run, jump, bite, chase, scream, bleed. (Oh and there's a scene with a helicopter you just won't believe.) If the movie lacks a real "rooting interest" and if the character development could best be described as "skimpy," the director makes up for those shortcomings by delivering a deserted London landscape that's as chilling as it is fascinating. (Plus, just as in Boyle's film, many of the non-violent moments are strangely beautiful to behold. At the very least, it's a look at London you've never seen before.) The cast is quite strong, even if you don't get much face time with any of the actors: Robert Carlyle is quite good as the guilt-ridden dad, Jeremy Renner plays an instantly likable and reluctantly heroic sniper, Harold Perrineau does what he can from the inside of a helicopter. Even the kids (Mackintosh Muggleton and Imogen Poots) are good! So to answer the most obvious question: No, the sequel is not better than the original. But really, did anyone out there expect it to be? No, the best we could realistically hope for was a follow-up that would do the original proud and perhaps stand up on its own two feet. 28 Weeks Later does both of those things surprisingly, nastily well. I know some people will gripe about the "shaky cam" approach, but that's just part of the series DNA by this point. Plus I happen to think a little chaos goes a long way in a movie like this. Not without its faults, 28 Weeks Later is simply a harsh, dark and refreshingly fast-moving little piece of apocalyptic horror. I gave the original a 5 out of 5, because I think it's borderline brilliant. This sequel's a solid 4 right on the nose ... which is certainly good enough for this horror geek. Bilgi :Remember those film critics who rambled on and on about the alleged political overtones of The Incredibles? The ones who interpreted Pixar's brilliant superhero-comedy as some sort of right-wing propaganda? Well, I propose that we not let those critics see Night at the Museum. In the Christmas season's biggest, most-hyped adventure-comedy, Ben Stiller enters a world of chaos and anarchy and brings peace and order to a war-torn region plagued by a long history of cultural and ideological rifts. The comparisons to contemporary world events practically write themselves. (Except maybe the "peace and order" part.)

Thankfully, most people probably won't see it that way. Parents will simply cherish the film as a rare comedy that is simultaneously smart, funny, and, save for a couple of mildly crass moments, almost completely family-friendly, without the smug condescension or nauseatingly hip pop culture references and fart jokes that tend to mar so-called children's movies as of late. Kids—and older movie buffs with a taste for adventure and spirited frivolity—will savor the movie's wit and its high-speed adventure. And anyone who remembers the big-budget action-comedies of the 1980s—gloriously silly movies like Ghostbusters—will wonder what the heck is going on.

Indeed, Night at the Museum is a breed of film that's all too rare these days. Though it draws some comparisons to Pirates of the Caribbean and especially Elf, it's still a noticeable abnormality—a big-budget, live-action concoction of comedy and adventure that makes no pretense of being anything other than a two-hour romp through goofy humor, history-buff in-jokes, kooky physical comedy, and high-speed chase scenes. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

Stiller stars as Larry Daley, an undisciplined entrepreneur whose brilliant money-making schemes—like a virtual driving range—always fizzle out into wasted potential. Larry's unstable lifestyle is worrisome to his ex-wife (Kim Raver), who wants a better environment for their son, Nick (Jake Cherry), so Larry buckles down and lands a job as a night watchman for a local natural history museum. It's a lame setup—all family-movie clichés and Mrs. Doubtfire-esque broken family drama—but things quickly get better when Nick meets the three outgoing security guards whom he is to replace—a trio of oldtimers played by Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, and Bill Cobbs. These guys are, of course, old comedy pros, and they're charming and funny enough to deserve their own movie.

Unfortunately, they don't tell poor Larry about everything that goes on in the museum at night. They leave out minor details like, oh, the fact that all of the exhibits come to life at night. Soon, Larry is understandably bewildered to find himself in the middle of a veritable indoor jungle, fighting off a horde of angry Huns, an army of miniature cowboys, Roman soldiers, a mischievous monkey, and a skeletal T-Rex.

You can probably guess what happens next. There are scenes of squeamish, cartoony violence, well-choreographed chases through the museum, and physical comedy that involves Larry and the monkey slapping each other repeatedly in the face. Larry vows never to come back, receives some sage advice from Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams), shares some tender moments with his son and an attractive museum employee (Carla Gugino), comes back after all, learns some lessons, uncovers the ancient mummy curse that has wrought havoc upon the museum, and resolves to save the day. There's even time for a few more yucks with the three old guys along the way. Yes, it's predictable. No, it's not going to be mistaken for high drama. Yes, if you're used to a diet of arthouse cinema and foreign flicks, this stuff is probably beneath you.

Only, the whole thing is very, very funny. The action and adventure consistently work. It's exciting even when you pretty much know what's going to happen. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and it never topples under its own weight. In fact, it's hard to believe that it's directed by Shawn Levy, the man whose dubious credits include Cheaper by the Dozen, The Pink Panther, Big Fat Liar, and a whole bunch of mediocre TV shows. Looks like he's finally getting the hang of things; Museum is explosively fun, and it leaves some room for actual storytelling (2006) amidst all the spectacle.

Of course, it's hard to mess things up when you're working with talented actors like these. Ben Stiller's career has been hit-and-miss recently, and this should be the hit he needs; it's his Elf in more ways than one, and, though he's no Will Ferrell, his familiar screen persona serves him well here. Robin Williams is suitably dignified as the charming President Roosevelt (incidentally, this film bears more than a slight resemblance to Williams' hit Jumanji). Steve Coogan is brilliantly absurd as a pint-sized Octavius. Ricky Gervaise is hysterical as the flustered, inarticulate museum director. And Owen Wilson, as an equally miniature cowboy, pretty much sticks to his usual schtick—in fact, he's basically reprising his role from Shanghai Noon—but he gets some of the film's funniest lines, and his laid-back demeanor always makes him a great foil for Stiller's hysteria.

Oh, and it doesn't hurt that they're all working from a script written by Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant, two of the masterminds behind TV's edgy comedy Reno 911!, who thankfully keep things reasonably clean and family-friendly without dipping into schmaltz or treacle. About the only caveats are one use of bad language and a scene of a monkey urinating on Larry's head.

Despite the almost incessant hilarity and inanities, there is a message amid the madness—the film actually has some wise and not-too-preachy things to say about perseverance, vision, dreams and responsibility. Ol' Teddy Roosevelt tells Larry on more than one occasion that not all men are born great—some have greatness thrust upon them. He exhorts Larry to strive for greatness rather than simply sit back and wait for it to find him. He affirms the importance of dreams and also responsibility.

And, of course, the importance of knowing your history. It's when Larry begins reading up the exhibits he's guarding that he begins to really get a handle on his situation, and, while this film in and of itself doesn't teach us too much about dinosaurs or famous explorers, it does an admirable job of making history—and knowledge in general—seem not just vibrant, but truly important. Here's hoping that families who spend a Night at the Museum might also end up spending a day at the museum.

As long as you're not expecting Gladiator (rather think those Steve Reeves sandal epics of yesteryear) then you'll be reasonably entertained by this adventure “epic” - and as long as you have a healthy sense of irony about you.

Set in Roman times in which the Goths overrun Rome and a small band of loyal soldiers must protect the child Emperor young Romulus Augustus (Thomas Sangster), the film boasts “international stars” such as Colin Firth (Bridget Jones), Ben Kingsley (Gandhi) and Bollywood megastar Aishwarya Rai last seen in Mistress of Spices.

Rai can't act at all, but it is fun to see her try at being an Angelina Jolie / Lara Croft style bad ass action heroine. (She's of course gorgeous to simply gawp at.) Kingsley - in laughable fake beard – is in “take the cheque and run” mode while Firth . . . well, Firth is as mediocre as the movie he's in, but there's a reason why Firth never made it to the A-list of Hollywood leading men.

While there is something low rent and cheesy about The Last Legion, the film's production values at least isn't of bottom-of-the-barrel straight-to-video quality. Instead the film's photography, special effects, costumes, scenery, soundtrack music, etc. don't come across as a complete waste of celluloid. In fact there are some decent locations (the best scenery is a Mediterranean island that serves as the setting for the film's best action sequence involving a daring rescue) and the CGI could have been a whole lot worse to be honest.

The film's other tangibles don't come off too well. The screenplay is tepid and predictable - the bits in-between action sequences are just plain dull. The action sequences themselves aren't too badly staged, but in the age of the fantastic battles in the Lord of the Rings movies they come across as tame and small scale.

Last Legion has its fair share of goofy elements – big hairy muscled guys with Viking helmets looking like either ‘Eighties metal band members or Wagner opera extras always have us chuckling appreciatively in our popcorn. What's not to like? However the sad truth is that the film never really truly embraces its own goofiness and keeps it at arm's length. The Last Legion never realises that it is a bad movie and suffers for it. A more energetic and over-the-top approach would have served the film better. The film's pacing and editing is simply too slow.

Instead we get a film that takes itself too seriously while we in the audience don't. One action sequence halfway through has a fair amount of fun, but in the end simply depresses one because it is an indication of how much more fun the film could have been. The endless hand-to-hand swordfights will have you looking at your watch as the film loses all momentum towards the end and grinds towards its predictable ending.

If you want an action epic set in ancient times, then 300 with its stylistic overkill is probably a much safer bet. Last Legion is something you'll rent one day when all the good stuff is out or catch late on TV one night.

Filmi seyretmeyi az önce bitirdim.
Çok zevkle bazen de buğulu gözler ile seyrettim.
Filmin son kısımlarında Fanis in Babasının İstanbul hakkında yapmış olduğu özlem dolu sözler, Biricik ve Tek Aşkım olan İstanbul a olan aşkımı körükledi.

Eleştiri yapmam gereken en önemli nokta ise....
Kullanılan Türk rolündeki oyuncuların aksanlarının tam bir Türk aksanı ile değil de Rum aksanlı konuşmaları idi. Heralde tek güzel ve akıcı Türkçe ile konuşan Tamer Karadağlı filim boyunca... ki o da filmin son dakikalarında dahil oldu bu seyredilesi filme...

Can Dostlar...
ne rum lar nede diğer ülkedekiler ırkcı politikalarını asla değiştirmiyorlar. Filim boyunca rum harfleri ile yazılmış İstanbulun tarih öncesi .. kendileri tarafından konulmuş ismini kullanıyorlar. Filim içerisinde de bunu aşikar bir şekilde göstermekten çekinmemişler.

Ne olursa olsun

Filim bir İSTANBUL hayranı ve özlemi çeken birisi tarafından ele alınıp sahnelendirilmiş izlenimi bıraktı bende....

Konu :

Güneydoğu Anadolu'nun feodal özelliklerini koruyan köylerinden birinde yaşamını sürdüren Ağa, gittikçe yoksullaşmasına karşın, geleneksel değer ve tavırları hiç değiştirmeksizin yaşamaya kararlıdır. Ancak koşullar değişmekte, Ağa'nın sahibi olduğu Haraptar köyü kuraklıktan kırılmaktadır. Ağa durumunu kuvvetlendirmek için son güvencesi olan politikada da düş kırıklığına uğrayınca topraklarını satar ve İstanbul'a göç eder. Ancak büyük kentte koşullar büsbütün farklıdır. Kentte ağalığın hiçbir anlamı yoktur.
